We're the Voice - the studies

This is the first part of a little democratic painting project. I started by creating 5 small sketches, 4 cm x 4 cm, using  a black pen on paper. Those were created from imagination and without reference photo. I posted them on facebook and let my friends vote, which of them looks most interesting.  The numbers below the studies show the result. No. 4 won with 8 votes. 
Afterwards i created the color sketch on my ipad. 
I am still undecided what to paint it on.... Panel size 40 cm x 40 cm or 60 cm x 60 cm.

The first time I redid my own painting. A customer wants the painting the gallery has already sold. It was a painful lesson but I think I learned a lot...

That it's impossible to replicate a painting done with lots of energy but with pretty arbitrary color. 
That cleaning my flat is more fun
That it takes much more time than working pleinair (about 3 times)
That I can hate a painting I was happy with before
That for money I would probably do it again... Once in a while ;-)

I haven't done a face for quite some time. Whenever I restart with this time-limited exercise after a longer pause i am fairly pleased with the initial result, just like this time. But when I go on with this training I cannot keep up my performance. It reminds me of the state of overtraining in sports. It's extremely exhausting and this hour felt like 3. So the plan is to do just one or two per week from now on. I do not want to dive deeper into portraiture for now but see those as accuracy training.
