Never Seen New York
60 cm x 60 cm, Oil
Well, actually I have seen New York but only from a plane when I had a 2 hour stop at Newark Airport. I was on the way to a conference in San Jose, California .. In Newark I discovered that my plane wants to go to San Jose, Costa Rica. I decided not to go on a holiday, but flew right back to Zurich.
No, this is not even the story for which I was thrown out of science and became a painter....

A&B Series: 1. Divisor and Moduli
25 cm x 30 cm, Oil
I received advice from the grand master. He said I should work on limited series to improve specific aspects of my painting and learn to expore a subject in more depth. So this is the start of my first series, limited to 20 studies/paintings or less.

Head Shape Study
Posted this on facebook yesterday....always a great place to meet friends and have a good conversation:
"I am going to have to unfriend you Thomas if you continue to send me your low quality portraits of dead stars i do not want to look out. They disgust me"
Thanks for your honesty! For this portrait course i am supposed to paint over 30 heads in this simplified way. Probably only few true friends will be left afterwards. Fine, let's do it!

Virtual Art Academy - Portraiture Course 1
I have enrolled the Virtual Art Academy and work myself through the Portraiture Sections. A key aspect is to get an understanding of the planes of the head and in there is plenty of material and assignments to learn that.
